Six years later, I still feel the same way, only with a stronger passion. I have now been married 5 years and have a 4-year-old and one on the way. I find it extremely tedious, energy draining, nagging wife complaining, task to constantly cook and clean everyday. I rather work 2 jobs (not related to cooking or cleaning) than cook and clean.

I pretty much think it’s an unfair(in my whiny baby voice) that women these days are not only working, helping to provide financially, doing a majority of the housework/ child care and expected to do it all gracefully with a happy smile. Absolute craziness sometimes I feel so overwhelmed I wanna scream and at times I do because I think it makes me feel better.

Don’t get me wrong I love my husband, and two beautiful daughters, but the life of a mother/wife/maid(lol)/superwoman can sometimes be crazy!

So I have not blogged in months, partially due to school, new baby,laziness,and whatever else I had going on at the moment, but I am back, for now anyways. I will be posting some old blogs I had not put out and then working on some new material. Time for all the randomness to begin!

Contemplating on my couch about getting a Brazilian wax and it lead me to this post. The only reason for contemplating is because being pregnant has led me to being extremely sensitive to my otherwise normal beauty routines. Many of you have tried various hair removal techniques. I have tried them all.Although I am still searching for the permanent hair removal (no not laser), but one in which no hair will ever grow. If anyone else has discovered please share! Here is my list of the top hair removal treatments in order of my favorites.

  I.     Laser Hair removal

This has been the absolute best and most effective way to remove hair, especially in my case where I get folliculitis with all other hair removal methods.

Pros:

Little to no hair regrowth

After my first 3 treatments I noticed very little to no hair re-growth, in my bikini area, (full bikini) there was very little hair only one patch of like 5 hairs. Underarms no hair at all, Face little hair around lip area would pop up, this hair seemed to be very stubborn.

Lessens ingrown hairs

This was the best benefit of all, and the reason why I believe it is worth the price. As I stated above I have folliculitis, and get lots of hair bumps from ingrown hairs. This was not appealing looks wise, and the laser hair removal seemed to cure it completely. So if you are suffering silently from ugly ingrown hairs, I would highly recommend this treatment

Treats are quick

The treatment last anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes depending on the area being treated. I did full body, excluding legs and arms, and my treatments where about 40 minutes tops.

Cons:

Pricey

I was lucky enough to get a deal on my first time. I paid 2000 dollars for 1 year of full body treatments. Prices range depending on place of business,area being treated,and amount of treatments, but expect to pay a pretty penny!

Multiple treatments required

Treatments are scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks starting off, and it is recommended to get at least 5. As the hair becomes less touch ups will most likely be needed every couple of months. In my case I did the full year with treatments every 4 to 6 weeks. My last treatment was November 2011. I will definitely need some touch ups or a total yearly treatment again after this pregnancy because hair has been growing everywhere, yet it’s probably just hormones.

Slightly uncomfortable or painful

This is definitely not for the faint at heart, but on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the pain as a 6.5. That is just for me, I recommend making lots of conversation with your laser technician or esthetician this seemed to ease my discomfort and make treatments even quicker!

Not effective for all skin types

Not sure on the exact skin types for this, but I do recommend chatting and receiving information from you laser technician or esthetician, who is licensed, for the effects on individual skin types. I did not have any side effects as far as scarring or skin discoloration.

II.     Threading

I just discovered my love of threading a couple of months ago while vacationing in NYC.  I received eyebrow threading, and upper lip threading.

The results were great and no hair re-growth for 2 months.  

Pros:

Hair re-growth slower

As stated it took 2 months for the hair to grown back where I actually noticed it the first time. As I have continued threading my brows I have noticed I need a treatment every 3 weeks. I am not sure if this is due to my regular hair re-growth or baby hormones, so I will update after pregnancy.

More Precise

I have noticed that the lady who does my threading is able to be more precise with the arching of my brows and I love it!

Cons:  Painful or slightly uncomfortable

I thought this was a pretty painful treatment not worse than the brazilian or laser, but definitely uncomfortable to say the least.

III. Waxing

Pros:

Leaves the area smooth and last longer

Waxing is great it usually picks up most of the hair leaving the area clean and pretty. Waxing last about 4 weeks at a time for most. It last only 2 and one-half weeks for me.

Easily accessible

There are waxing kits available at your local beauty supply store or wherever beauty products are sold.  Leaving it to be either a do it yourself or go to a professional option.

Pricing

This could be on the pro or con list depending on how often. For pros it is a Diy project and could save money. Also depending on the area prices vary, usually within an affordable range.

Cons:

Pricey

could be costly if you have to frequently repeat. In my opinion its better to just pay the price of laser treatments because waxing adds up.

Slightly uncomfortable/Painful

This is another painful method for some, less for others. I recommend talking through it just like the laser treatment. It makes it go faster! There are also numbing screams sold over the counter. I have never tried any but go for it if you think it will help. Also take a Motrin or Tylenol before a brazilian!

 IV.  Depilatory Creams:

Pros:

Quick and affordable!

You can get a large tube at your local beauty supply for about 8 or 9 bucks. It only takes about 5 minute tops after application.

Cons:

Last about a week

This is a con for me because It irritates my skin, so the more I use it the more irritated my skin gets, so I would like it to last longer for less frequent usage.

Doesn’t smell that great!

I typically use the brand Veet for my hair removal. It has less stench then Nair Products, and is less irritating in my opinion. Nair is still a good option though

V.  Shaving

  Pros and Cons not needed here:

Last but not least, this is the most used method of hair removal, and is quite effective and quick. I only shave my legs at this point and it still works like magic although it only last a couple of days!

All hair removal methods work, Choose what suits you!

I have currently received a new title to my name, and I completely love it. Cheer Mom, how delightful that sounds. My daughter is only four and has recently joined the cheer team at a local gymnasium. She has been there participating in gymnastics, so it was only natural that when I heard cheer team I signed her up.I of course made sure she wanted to attend to cheer herself first! She loves cheerleading. The first practice was a uniform fitting, and from that point on she was hooked and so was I. She looked so adorable in the uniform, how could I not be? After looking over the prices for the whole season I found myself being quite skeptical. Who knew that cheerleading for 4 year olds was so expensive. The uniform itself is 300 dollars, and competitions are 150 a piece, not to mention shoes, makeup,practice clothing, whew! Yet even with the expensive season I find myself being ultra excited about this cheerleading mom journey, and I have already met some other great cheer moms and looking forward to a fun season! This should be a fun experience for my daughter and I, one I will always cherish! Look out for random cheer mom pics to come!

Hello Ladies and Gents!

I have been excessively busy with school summer session starting so I have not blogged in a couple of days, yet  I still found time to  Keep Up With The Kardashians. One of my favorite reality tv show is back for its seventh season. Who would have thought the KK sisters would last this long.Watching this show is like an addiction for me, as previously noted Reality TV Junkie! It’s just something about Kim,Khloe,and Kourtney. I am not alone just look at their estimated 45 million dollar contract on channel E! Someone else loves them, and this season has been more of their crazy family antics, but I am not sold yet. I usually love and re-watch every episode, but so far they haven’t kept me glued. I will still tune in for the whole season, besides I can’t wait to see Kim with her new Beau Kanye West!

One thing I would not like to see is any more Kardashian spin-offs on E! I love the show and I have watched spin-offs such as Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami, and Kim and Kourtney Take New York, but I believe to many shows, too much exposure, too annoying, and people will get bored. Hard to say though when millions of are still tuned in. Are you still watching spin-offs?

Are some people tuning out? With the backlash of Kim’s ultra fabulous multi-million dollar 72 day marriage people were just not buying into the Kardashian brand. You have many people speaking out on how overrated Kim and her family are. Yet the numbers do not lie. These ladies have created an empire from perfume,websites,jewelry and clothing to multiple reality shows. I do not see any stop to this go-getter family anytime soon. Especially with momanager Kris Jenner!

The Devil Wears Prada is coming back! I’m so excited about this it was like sugar in my tea when I heard the news! This movie and book is a must if you absolutely love fashion, so I’m sure most of you fashion gurus have seen or read already, but for the souls that are lost, let me give you a background.

The Devil Wears Prada is a best-selling novel by author Lauren Weisberger that was published in 2003. It follows the story line of a young woman ,Andy(Hathaway) with the dream of being a big success in the magazine industry particularly The New Yorker. Once she graduates from Columbia Andy hopes to get her foot in the door as an editor, but her life is spun out of control when she becomes an assistant to Miranda Priestly(Streep), editor-in-chief at the fashion “Runway” magazine. In order to prevail in the magazine industry she has to prevail in working for Miranda,which proves to be a daunting task.

The movie and book are pretty similar. The sequel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns is set to be  released in 2013 a mere 10 years after the first book. The story is set to pick up 8 years later when the young lady Andy has parted ways with Miranda, and is now an editor at a Bridal Magazine “The Plunge”. Her arch nemesis at “Runway” Emily has joined her and their friendship has bloomed.Andy(Hathaway) is also planning a wedding to a media mogul. The plot thickens as she continues her life and dreads the encounters of her former boss Miranda(Streep).

Sounds like the book will be back on the bestsellers, now lets work on the movie sequel. Who wouldn’t love to see Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep perform in smashing fashion on the big Screen! Let me know what you think. Did you enjoy the movie or book as much as I?

Omg, today has been a long day for this momma, and my frustrations have hit the fan! My 4 year old is giving me a run for my money and my nerves. Becoming a parent has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful things in my life, but it has also become one of my most frustrating task to conquer. Which leads me to the question, Do we ever conquer parenthood? Is there anyone in this world who felt they knew how to handle all the demanding,joyful,crazy task of parenthood? I have yet to encounter such an individual.

I became a parent at the ripe age of 19 years old, right after I joined the Air Force and got married. Getting pregnant at such an early age was a surprise to say the least. My husband and I had just joined the military and all I was thinking about was partying and tasting the Independence of life. So when I got the phone call after getting blood taken for another medical issue I was shocked. Here is how the conversation between the nurse and I went:

ME: Hello

Nurse: Hello, Mrs. Mcknight How are you?

me: Fine

Nurse: Well, I wanted to call you about your test results for XYZ

Me: Oh Is everything alright?

Nurse: Yea, but did you know you are pregnant?

Me:_______________________________________________

Nurse:Hello

Me: Huh?

Me: Pregnant

Me:Are you sure?

Me: (laughing) Are you serious?

Nurse: Yes, your hcg results came back positive

ME: What is Hcg results?

Nurse: The pregnancy hormone

Me: Oh my FFFFFFFFFF!

Nurse: Well, we will schedule you a check up and send for a profile

Me: Ok, thanks and bye!

Me: Blank Stare!

This was amazing. All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind, what am I going to do, my life is ruined, this can’t be true, how did this happen(of course I know how babies are made),Whoa! I then called to tell my husband whom thought I was playing a joke, and from then the joys of pregnancy began!

It took me a while to come to terms with parenting,three years to be exact and my daughter is now 4. I am not saying I have perfected being a parent, but that I now finally realize how impacting my role is in my child’s life. I have to teach her, discipline her,keep her away from strangers, instill values in her, and sometime I just don’t know what to do! Those are the times when I wish there was a parent rule book or guideline to go by.

All in all I think most of us strive to be the parents we can be (no rule book included), there are sometimes situations that arise where we are lost, and there are times when we make bad decisions as parents. So, as I sit here pregnant with my second (a girl again!) I now realize parenting is something we take day-to-day. I have 4 years of experience to go off of for the next one, and some techniques will change while others will stay put. As long as we give our best efforts, we can never fail as a parent.

So bless all the wonderful mommies and daddies out there for parenting without a rule book!

There have been rumors going for the last couple of years that Facebook would be developing their own smart phone with the social network being integrated as the core of the phone operations. Hmmm, I am quite skeptical on this idea for a couple of reasons

1. Privacy, Facebook already has a huge privacy violation in our lives. Everything we like and anything we click on Facebook is seen by millions.Would this be the same for the phone? Will everything you do on your Facebook phone somehow be available to stream online through the Facebook system? IDK, but just a thought!
2. Competition, We have apple and android phones that have taken over the nation. Will Facebook be able to compete, and what will they come up with to woo us all over to buy the phone? Consciously I totally believe Mark Zuckerberg can pull it off, but how is my question!

Facebook has already stated that they do not make money off of people using Facebook on their mobile devices, and as I look at my Facebook friend list more than three-fourths of my online friends are logged on through their mobile devices, so the company has great reason to venture into creating their own phone.

Although the idea of the phone is just rumored and nothing has been confirmed by the Facebook company, New York Times is reporting that Zuckerberg has hired several ex-apple engineers to work on the project. All in all this could be a great venture and money-maker for Facebook especially since they have just went public and need to bring in revenue for investors.

Even though I am skeptical of this phone, mostly based off of privacy, I am almost sure many of us will flock to the store to buy.We are a technology loving economy at the time, so anything with the latest and greatest is sure to catch my eye and yours!
