New York: A Love Affair Began!

Love Affair is defined as an intense enthusiasm or liking for something, and it perfectly matches my relationship with NYC. I was just sitting here thinking  about the magical place of New York City. I dreamed of moving to this place since I was about 14 years old, and I finally visited for the first time last summer, and then again for New Years! I remember seeing the lights of the city as we flew in  to LaGuardia on our 2:oo am flight(lots of flight delay), this was the start of a love affair that I just can’t let go of.

Once we arrived at the airport, it was pretty empty, but it was there that I got my first glance at a New York attitude! First I seen this tall statue of a lady who was pencil thin, she walked like she was on the runway. My husband looks over at me and says, Model, I’m like of course! Next as we walked outside to see about getting a cab, I heard this strong New York accent, (whom I personally thought was yelling), but what I later learned was this was having a normal New York conversation. He was talking pretty fast and he sounded rude and angry. My husband and I were so amused we just sat there and secretly listened to his conversation for about 5 minutes!

New York Driving (Omg) I thought I was going to die. We finally caught a taxi around 3am, and boy was I in for a ride! As soon as the doors closed, she took off I mean really took off. I am sort of nervous in cars after a car accident I was in a couple of years ago, and this taxi ride ignited a lot of fear. I have no idea how fast she was driving, but I kept looking for speed limit signs to check the speeds( I didn’t see one speed limit sign my entire trip), and nudging my husband to search also. New Yorker’s are impatient, this taxi was beeping before lights even changed to green!

We arrived at our hotel about 4am, we stayed at The New Yorker , which I loved, our room was pretty nice with a great view. As soon as we checked in and dropped our bags off, we took to the still very busy streets! This is what solidified my love. At 4am people were still out eating pizza and walking around. It felt great! My husband was quite amused by the fact that people were still moving about in the city, but I already knew we were in a city that never sleeps!

Being in New York brought a feeling upon me I had never felt anywhere else. It was feelings of Freedom, dreams, passion that made me feel like I could accomplish anything . This is the city of opportunity! Everyday I was there I felt inspired! I love NYC,  the people, the multiculturalism, the competition, the feel. This is a love affair I never want to end!
